Vibra-Technics Engine Mounts

Post by SAJ » Fri Apr 27, 2012 10:08 pm

I think my engine mounts need replacing again, last time they were done was about 12000 miles ago. Pretty rubbish but a known issue on vx220s and Europas.

I found these uprated ones: http://www.vibra-technics.co.uk/lotus/e ... gine_mount

Anyone had any experience? They look much better than the OE ones but I can get OE or £25 a pop and these are £135, however if they even last twice as long I'll take them as I can't be bothered with the fitting new ones every year.

One of the guys on the vx forum bought a set but didnt bother to fit them. He felt there was more movement in them that the std mounts. When my driver side mount went I got some polybush inserts for the front and rear mounts. 12000 miles and a trackday and so far they have been great. A little more vibration but only noticable on idle.

I'd imagine that the Europa mounts are the same.

No idea about that application but I have dealt with Vibratecnics, I bought a set of their mounts second hand off e-bay and they were far too stiff for what I wanted, V-T were more than happy to discuss them and provide replacement inserts at a very reasonable price. The certainly seem to know what they are up to so drop them a line with your concerns.

Thanks for the feedback.

I think I might just get them and see how it goes. At least then I can give feedback based on a Europa application.

I already put the front and rear poly mounts on last time the mounts were changed so hopefully these will tighten things up nicely.

So I ordered the VT Mounts and they arrived today

I went for the fast road mounts as the other ones just sounded way to hardcore for me.

Initial impression is that the build quality looks to be excellent. Very solid bit of kit and make the OE mounts look like cheap crap, and so they should be considering they cost 5 times as much. I can't see them as having more movement than the standard mounts and given how solid they are they may cause some extra vibration through the car but i'll feedback once they are fitted and i've had a good drive with them on.

I also bought an uprated toelink too so should be all ready to start going to a few track days this year :D

Here are a few picks I took with the phone:

Had these fitted and got the car back today.

Very happy with the result, no noticeable increase in vibration through the car and the whole car feels that much tighter now too. The gear change also seems to feel much better too.

Now to see how long they last for.
