TRD Box and Filter

Post by martins » Thu May 17, 2012 12:21 pm

Is it worth putting a TRD Airbox and Filter on my Exige S 240? Is this an easy swap? Put a Hurricane Filter on the old Elise no bother at all but the Exige seems a little more 'tight for space'.

After that would it then be worth sticking on a Larini or 2ubular stage 2?

Thoughts?

Yes. Do it.

The scream coming from the supercharger makes you laugh like a three-year-old the first time you hear it and I've not tired of it yet. Great thing is that it's very little difference when you're not on maximum attack - it'll only scream when you're nailing it :thumbsup

Shug

That is what I like. A balanced engineering decision based on quantifiable proven data 8)

Now to go raid the 'slush fund' for such vital purchases.

Exhaust may have to wait till next month. One aural hit at a a time

Martin,

I fitted Neil's old 2ubular and it sounds great compared to the standard exhaust I had on. Nothing like your old elise exhaust, i can actually here the radio except when its given the beans. Give me a shout if you want to hear it.

Cheers

You'll be needing a sports cat to go with that Graham!

Another :thumbsup for the TRD airbox/filter

Not that easy to fit DIY, so left to the specialists, Craig at MMC knows them well :)

Craig will do you one for little money mate, and definitely recommended! As Shuggles says, it is far too addictive when playing hard!

I'd recommend it too Martin, especially if you're planning any tuning work at a later date.

Guys, does the mapping on a SC elise require adjustment after fitting this new airbox or can it compensate for the increased airflow.

If they sound that good, i wouldny mind one myself :D

I just took delivery of my 2bular and 200 cell CAT before I came a away offshore. While here, I have also bought a TRD airbox and filter Nitron shocks and rear toe links. It has been an expensive hitch this one. I cant wait to get it all fitted..

Fook me. Fitted the TRD airbox and Filter today. Took more than 2 hours  Wont be doing that again in a hurry. The Exige is so much tighter than the Elise. The additional cooling pipes for the SC fitted by a previous owner did not help. TRD box needed to be adjusted as mounting holes in the wrong place and the wheel liner did not initially want to play ball

Anyone know what to do with the 'breather' tube that was fitted to what looks like some form of diaphram fitted to the original Lotus airbox which is not duplicated in the TRD box? Have blanked off for now.

MIL light is on, but then again it was on before I started. Update exhaust next, then sort the MIL (again) .

Martin, the breather tube needs to be blank off. Just cut it back and screw a screw into the tube to seal it. The TRD box only picks up the 2 passenger side hole but not the third hole. Easy to fit to an Elise with the clam off :)

Martin,

Mine went on dead easily, well I guess the Technician at Murray's had done it it hundred times before. I must admitt I did have a wee look at where it fitted and was glad of Craig's services. It was the first stage in upgarding to 260 BHP, will get the ECU etc done during the Autum when I go on holiday.

Will you be going to TT

Cheers
