Elise Spares

Post by Tillytog » Mon Jul 02, 2012 6:57 pm

Hiya
Thinking of getting a new gearbox fitted by Elise Spares , based down near Norwich .
Anybody got any experience of this company ?
The box is for a Sport 160 , and I'm opting for a CR 1-4 with slightly longer 5th , delivered thru a shortened diff ......I think !
Any views ??

Thanks Woody
I guess I want the best of both worlds , rapid acceleration , and cruising at 70 mph at around 3k revs ?
think I'm out of my depth with all the tech stuff !!

It's a lot of money for virtually no noticeable benefit. IMHO

Sport 160 came with bog standard "long ratio" box (see SELOC tech wiki). Basically the box that's fitted to most S1s and is available second hand for pennies.

What do you use the car for? If it's a lot of twisty roads/mountains and tracks then the close ratio box (of more or less any type) is worth considering. If the main use is cruising about and the odd track day then the box that that car originally came with is the one I would go with.

Cheers,
Robin

I have a box like that as Gav says. I can give you a number if you want. Might as well change the clutch etc while you're at it.

Whats knackered with your present gearbox ? Is it just noisy or crunching gears theyre not hard or expensive to repair if its not totally sh*gged
