cobra goldline 6019

Post by thesurfbus » Tue Jul 17, 2012 1:13 pm

I wonder if anyone can give me some information on the Alarm/Immobiliser fitted to my 1997 S1.
I believe it is a cobra goldline 6019, however I have no documentation to support this, it does have a cobra key switch under the dash, switches on the bonnet and boot, and a black box on the bulkhead between the 2 seats, they key fob is a black rectangular shape with a red and a blue button.
My first question is, does anyone know if this is a CAT 1 alarm/immobiliser, my google search appears inconclusive.
How does the Alarm/Immobiliser work, I have to press the red button to allow me to start the engine, but not sure when else it should be pressed, the indicators flash twice after the ignition has been turned off.
Does the Blue button arm the system, but disable the motion sensor?
There appears to be a black rectangular shaped thing, with visible contacts, which is attached to the steering column surround just beside the ignition key, is this part of the alarm?

Thanks Doug

If this is the stansard S1 upgrade option alarm then yes it's Cat1. Have you looked up the Elise FAQ and seloc teck wiki yet? Great place to start when learning about stuff like this.

Heres a starter for 10 to get you running http://wiki.seloc.org/a/Vehicle_security_system ;)

Thanks for the replies.
I came to the conclusion that it was a Cobra 6019 after reading the Seloc Wiki, however the box under the dash which has the key to disable the alarm, states Cobra 5230 (4S5320STG), will investigate further tomorrow.

That could just be the designation of the module itself, rather than the system.

The box under the dash is only the master key switch, not the whole immobiliser. The box was deleted from later models, presumably because it was felt it reduced the overall security or increased the cost ...

I never worked out what the other button did either. Best bet is to turn off the whole system and forget about it :-)

Cheers,
Robin

When I try to turn the alarm off using the key in the box, I can't remove the key from the box when its in the off position, is this normal?
I have ordered some replacement key fob cases, as the originals are falling apart.
