Hi guys,
Another post about something I have no idea about!
I've a used janspeed downpipe I'm looking to sell, though there is wear to one end of the braided wire on the flexi section

I've someone interested in it, but he'd like to know if the wear is likely to get worse, or if it's a non issue.
It came off the car with no issues, just swapped to a 421 manifold.
I've also been asked if swapping the downpipe along with the back box would make any difference to an S1 with a gas flowed head? Again no idea, it made a difference on my car when it went on but thats because the original had a hole rusted through it!
Just looking for an honest opinion on whether it's good or goosed! (should've done this before posting the ad up TBH, but it's just stuff kicking about in the garage.)

There is some life in it, but it's on its way out - they do break, OEM flexis and aftermarket.

Engines are supremely sensitive to exhaust design, most of the aftermarket systems are more expensively made and have longer primaries which improve over OEM, but they are still just connecting A toB.

A properly tuned exhaust will make huge gains, but the operative word is "tuned" - a pipe length, diameter, collector volume is particular to a cam, valve, induction length, and size, airbox/plenum volume and airbox feed, so what you really cannot expect to work is an aftermarket exhaust to work with any number of individuals' compiled engine specification.

Ie exhausts need to be bespoke to work, buying off the shelf is buying the first jacket in the Oxfam shop, and you can almost guarantee it won't fit!

If you're shopping in oxfam then the budget obviously doesn't stretch to bespoke;)

Cheers for the replys guys, it's just a spare part I have. I wasn't really sure if it was worth anything with the wear shown. I guess not!
I'll probably stick it into the shared parts thread, it's not really fit for the bin, just might be useful for a quick fix if someone has a knackered standard one.
