1999 1.8 T Engine code AJQ, ran short of oil.

2005 same engine but code is AUQ, both have drive by throttle, question is:

Fairly straight forward swap, does anyone know.

Thanks in advance

Andy

Hi both engines are the same basic spec but the AJQ has a KO3 turbo and the later AUQ has KO3s which I believe is slightly better and a compatible straight swop, never done it though so can't say how easy it would be.

Thanks Steviej

I found this: If accurate would need ecu and all the other stuff to allow VVT.
So may not be a good idea

AUQ is 06A, small ports head.
AJQ is also 06A, not sure about the head, I think it is small ports too.
Differences that I know of:

Wrist pins:
AUQ - 19 mm
AJQ - 20 mm

Variable valve timing:
AUQ - Yes
AJQ - No

Secondary air system:
AUQ - Yes
AJQ - No

Not much help on what you have as this is a minefield, Ive been reading loads about this recently and its so confusing.

I have an old big port AGU head on my car which did not have VVT as standard but has been fitted. So conversely you should be able to just leave the cam senor off the end of the head, all it is is a cam pos sensor which bolts on the end of the inlet cam like a distributor. Also they call it vvt but its nothing special. As I understand it all it does is allow sequential control and better cold start for emissions. Could be wrong though, its all ill be using it for in the emerald though.
Doubt its any use but Im converting to remove DBW so will have a DBW throttle body/MEM7.5 ecu and throttle control pot going spare all from an s3. Would need reflashed but that not too big a deal if you go for a standard map.
