Does anyone have any recommendations on where I can get the cam's properly timed? Just got the Sabreheads KR1 and newman cams installed along with vernier pulleys. when I got the work carried out I didn't realise that the mechanic couldn't do this also :( Rob Bell has a great write up of Dave Andrews/KiwiRog's preferred method for timing cams (http://mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/engine ... timing.htm) but anyone I have asked locally in Glasgow looked at me as if I was crazy

Contact Paul Luti at Dreadnaught Garage in Callander. He and Claire built fairly quick K series engines for the MG cup, are Caterham service agents, so should be able to help out. Another is Rob McKinna at Manor Garage in West Linton, he preps a number of race cars. A bit further East than you I know, but he may help.

Kenny Brown over in Hillington is definitely worth a chat with. He's pretty good with race and rally stuff :)

I have the kit to do it, but we would need to find the time which is always a bit harder than you would like.

What's it running like right now?

Cheers,
Robin

A bit pants you were sold all that gear and it couldn't even be set up? Manor Garage in West Linton is not somewhere I'll be returning to any time soon.. I had my Esprit put in there years ago with a coolant leak was charged healthy for the repair which turned out to be a cable tie which came off after about 2 days and alas my leak was back! I sorted it myself the second time again with a cable tie but in the right place this time in all of about 4 minutes and that leak never came back!

Leak was a coolant sensor on a water pipe had popped out they put it back in and put a cable tie round the clip, that fell off pretty pronto.. I replaced the cable tie with one going round the pipe and the sensor which is what should have been done in the first place. I'm sure from memory that first cable tie repair cost me north of a hundred pounds?? second one took me all of 4 mins and cost about 6p!

The other suggestions above seen decent though :thumbsup

Thanks guys for the suggestions will chase them up. Robin, shes running much better than I would heave thought to be honest. Regards time, always in short supply, you should use it to spend time with the family or enjoying your own elise rather than trying to sort mine yet again! :)

Get a quote from Murray Lotus to compare to your list too, Les.

Would have also suggested Tarduff Motors, Linlithgow, as chief tech there spannered for Scuderia Ecosse. However they have an irrational fear of Elises and refused to maintain mine. So may also balk at a simple K series cam timing task, even though a local chav may ask them to do exactly the same job on a Rover "MG" ZR 218!!!

But they do know their stuff.

Another +1 for Kenny Brown though.

Oh and also Robin but his diary is really scary ;-)
