Scottish Elises

I seem to be overfueling when starting (since installing the new cams & kr1 head work) so thought I would start with the temp sender unit. Can someone please confirm the OEM part number for the S1 Brown (ECU) Temp Sender please before I buy it I think its rover part MEK100060.

Don't know about the part number, but I think I may have a spare in my garage if you want to try that?

I might start by cleaning the contacts and making sure the wire is actually connected and not fractured first. I imagine it has been disconnected for a while so perhaps some corrosion on the contacts?

I don't know the rover part number either, sorry.

Spoke to Rob Bell over on the the MGF Register, its a GTR205 Temp Sender unit. Robin good call on the contacts, will try that when I get back home (in Aviemore at the moment). Since being put back together she has been running rich but well, loosing up nicely however in this rare heat, the ecu seems to like the 'choke' being out and either floods the engine when cranking or after about 1 minute of driving over fuels and the engine starts to stutter/splutter.

If it runs OK on full throttle but is hideously over fuelled on part throttle I would suspect the TPS wiring or the TPS itself.

If you can get it running long enough to warm up, then if the fan cuts in at normal temperature it is not the ECU temp sensor.

also check the MAP sensor hose is connected properly and not kinked or ruptured. Plausible if the head has recently been removed.
