S1 engine troubles

I'm lost.
New plugs, new leads, brand new distributor, and still the engine under load is dropping to 2 cylinders with the emissions light blinking like crazy. Any ideas? It has never done this, ever, but can't seem to get it sorted now...

Checked all the sensors? I had a bloody weird misfire when I had an HT lead too close to the crank sensor once, but if yours is on a dizzy, it's unlikely a lead would go that far astray. Sensor glitches can throw misfires though, so give them a check over.

James, bring it up to Old Deer and let Craig have a look at it, other than that the same with Ricky Gauld.

Err, what actual car is this? Engine, ECU configuration? Ta, Robin
P.S. Because I cannot think of a distributor based K-series Lotus Elise that also had an engine check light that was wired to anything.
P.P.S. If it is not a distributor based car then chances are coil pack (it fails, takes 2 cylinders with it). If it is distributor based car, rotor arm is likely.

It doesn't have a distributor mate, that was me typing it by mistake. I only started changing the various parts because the problem started one day all of a sudden

Ok,so vvc engine, twin coil pack, and it is dropping to 2 cylinders only when under load?
Is it ok on start up, and doesnt misfire any other time?
Check the throttle position sensor connector, and also run through the reset for it, ignition on, slowly press the throttle pedel down 5 times, turn off ignition, wait 1 minute, then start the engine.( i think)

Perfect on start up, no misfire at any other time. Will investigate further and get back to you...

When you say the light is flashing, which one is it, as i dont think they had one till the S2 with the twin lambda sensor?

It will likely be the misfire detection unit kicking in that is flashing the light
