OK, I am trying to decide what to do about tyres for this trip.

The total lemon Gareth has stitched me up with not only has burst radiator but also bald rear tyres

I could just buy a pair of A048R's from Lotus and have them fitted while the radiator is being fixed.

That's fine if it's going to be dry or a bit damp.

My other options are to buy a complete set of:

Some other Yoko A0xxRs, possibly non-Lotus compounds ... what are people using (16/17 wheels, 195 front, 225 rear)?

Toyo T1R's (cheapest option, current favourite).
Toyo R888s (compromise on price)

Any other ideas?

just get 48's you tight wad

New tyres time for me as well soon. Probably going to go for T1R's in time for winter and back to the R888's next year, the 48's just dont last long enough to justify the cost.

I got a good deal on 48's from Ronnie at Wheels Around.
Non LTS compound but around £100 cheaper (for 2 rears).

So far I can't tell the difference (I suspect the different construction is going to be less noticable on the rears). Worth a try as its only 3K miles between a bad set and a good set...
(Similar to haircuts for me, only 2 weeks between a bad one and a good one).

I'd avoid T1R's as they are crap for the first 1k miles, and at Cadwell mine were going off within 4-5 laps, and melting badly.

Good tyre for the rain though.

What about the new Yoko Advans? More of a compromise between road tyre and track tyre???

Yes, but plenty expensive too - will probably go for a set next time around if I get 48's this time (another set of rears should see the fronts out ...).
