Downsizing wheels NLC

Post by smee » Mon Oct 14, 2013 5:54 pm

Looking to replace the 18s on the Octavia with 16s.
Is there a conversion chart or site for tyres to keep the rolling radius the same?
Currently have 225/40/18s which is a) hopelessly impractical for my job and b) no use for winter.

Thanks

205/55/16 or 205/50/17 would work well.

You've probably already considered this, but make sure that 16s will clear the calipers..

Was going to keep them maybe depending on how rubbish the 16s looked but may sell. Would need 2 new front tyres however

Is it an Octavia 1 or 2?

Octavia 1 = Golf 4
Octavia 2 = Golf 5 (different stud arrangement).

Not sure about width and clearance etc of course..

The Octavia 18s will fit the golf no problem.

16s will also fit the vRS- that's the smallest size you can go and still clear the calipers. Tyre size should be 205/55/16. That's what size your spare will be if you have one.
They will look pap though, especially on the rear.
I use 17s for winter and changed the A3 ones I had for TT ones for this winter and they have a lower offset and they look better.
I'd suggest 17s may be a better compromise?
