OBD reader (wireless)

Post by Kinger » Mon Jan 27, 2014 9:50 pm

Can anyone recommend an wireless OBD reader that will with my IPhone 5. There seems to be so many on Amazon / ebay ranging from so cheap to so expensive.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Cheers

iPhone has non-standard bluetooth; that's not to say it won't work, but whichever model you choose you should confirm with the seller explicitly that it works with the iPhone 5.

After that, almost all the functionality is the s/w application, not the dongle that connects to the OBD port, so cheap is probably OK.

The Kiwi 2 wifi works with iphone and you don't have the hassle of the apple bluetooth. Works with loads of other apps as well. See here.

All that said if it's for your Exige you will still have limited readback from you r ecu and may not get all the data. Lotus use some weird and wonderful software in their ECU's and it can be a pain getting readers to connect.
