Fitting harnesses

Post by pete » Thu Mar 27, 2014 9:39 pm

I know someone have managed to leave the seatbelts in (Shug) do you need to retain the spring that on the bolt that holds teh setbelt socket to the seat? There's not really room for that and the harness strap and the socket itself.

I have both types is seatbelts / harnesses in my car. Fairly sure there are no springs involved in the fitting of them. :thumbsup

I have both too, I can't remember if there is a spring, from memory it was washers only but it was about 4 years ago. Cars up at Murray's or I'd have a look

The spring is there to stop them rattling about when nobody is sitting in the seat.

When I was considering the same thing, there was a special kit required to allow you to keep both. That MSAR place did them. :-) They are a helpful bunch too.

Basically leave the seatbelt in. At the side of the seat one end has the seatbelt plug and the other the bottom strap of the seat belt. This is the same area where each waist part of the harness fits. I think the questions raised where how best to mount both either with a spring separating each part or washers. The shoulder parts then fit to a bar that's fitted behind the seats.
