Not sure if you just used the straight sump off the Audi or had it baffled.

Re: Mainly for Robin.
The K was burning oil like no tomorrow and had let me down one time too many to persuade me that the best thing to do was to rebuild it. The problem is that I use the car 2-3 times a year to go on a euro trip and a couple of track days and despite spending quite a lot on maintenance, I had three successive trips spoiled by failure, all of them engine related (and none of them HGF-like failures!)
So I had my arm twisted to try out the Audi route. Of course it's a boat anchor of an engine, but I'm a boat anchor of a driver, so I don't care that much ... perhaps I'll go on a diet to compensate
If it turns out to be unreliable then next stop has to be the Honda, which must by now be a relatively well understood problem, or I'll just push it off a cliff and buy a new car
Cheers,
Robin

Just the normal Audi sump, Tut. I don't run on sticky tyres, so at this point I figured I would leave the sump as is. Could be a mistake - but then the whole thing could be a mistaketut wrote:This thread may be of interest to you Robin.

Re: Mainly for Robin.
Next question, why Audi? Had you down as more of a duratec sort.

Re: Mainly for Robin.
They're SUPPOSED to burn oil! It's a feature.
Honestly what is it with you people? And that's how my car is used (and lately for driving to work because i bought another car from McApe*) you don't see me rushing out to make it go faster.
Is there only me and Campbell who have Ks?
*not his fault. Getting the paint fixed.

Re: Mainly for Robin.
I guess I could have put in a lower power Audi engine - but once you're spending the money ...
I quite like the Duratec, but it would have cost me quite a lot more than the route I took.
Also, forced induction is the way ahead - ask F1

Would love to see some photos/write up of the conversion, presume you are doing it yourself?
I'm considering a future project just now and doing my homework.

What he said. Which engine is it? What power?
Is it talent masking to the extent of Tuts?

Re: Mainly for Robin.
After talking a little about Audi engines in another thread I can only assume you have went for the 225 Robin?
I had a read about the differences myself and have a rough idea how I would do things, so would be very interested to hear how you are doing it.

K and proud, Pete, K and proud.
FWIW I expect mine to undergo a comprehensive rebuild next winter if funds allow. Call it preventive maintenance on a 105k mile engine.
My usage pattern is different again to Robin's, and relative originality (currently) means a lot to me.
