20mph/1000RPM in 5th is pretty accurate.

More accurate calculation:

1000RPM / (0.848 * 4.20) = 280.8RPM at the wheel.

Wheel is 225/45 R 16 = 1857mm rolling circumferance.

Thus at 1000 RPM in 5th you'll be doing 280.8 * 1857 mm/min = 521,395mm/min = 19.44mph.

So the 20/1000 is a small overestimate which is what you want when considering staying within the speed limits.

Cheers,
Robin

Do you want a shot of a sat nav? I've got a spare one that'll give you a speed readout

Do you know what is causing the problem Scotty? Is it the sensor reading the toothed ring?

As per Robins calculation and Steve's link to the seloc wiki guide in this post, can be calculated for all combinations but more fun going for drive with a GPS phone.

box?

I didn't think an elise with a CR could go that fast? I think that's a std box?

Would be handy to know 3rd and 4th calc/ratio for built up or speed restricted areas?

James (Jimbo) with my old 111s should be able to tell you?

:thumbsup

That is a Sport 135 (now mine! ), so it is a CR box.

I once saw (I think I was on the autobahn at the time  ) 143tuts indicated on my 111s (also CR box). As I say, indicated - not sure how accurate the stack is though.

The 2-11 saw all the shift lights in 6th on the Autobahn (following AndyG in the GT3). It was difficult to tell as I was having to hold on to my Oakleys (they seem only stable up to 150) but I suspect a genuine 160. It probably would have been reckless to take the other hand off the wheel for a photo.

I also bumped the limiter in top along Dottinger Hohe after drafting an M3. If 8,200rpm that would have been 165mph...
