removing headlight covers

Post by GregR » Fri Sep 29, 2006 10:54 am

do it with a stanley knife, or is there a more subtle way of doing it? I have 5 years worth of grit and dead flies on display in there!

Once off, how back on?

Thankyouplease.

Back on, there's a couple of options....

Geary supplies a black goo, which is supposedly very good. You can also use thin 2 sided sticky foam tape. I used velcro, which occasionally looked like sh*t, but allowed you to get in and clean every time you wash the car.

I took the clear covers off the exige and fitted darker smoked ones.
The originals came off very easily... gently squeezed a flat screwdriver into the join then it sort of peeled off nicely. I used the 'goo' from eliseparts to fit the smoked ones.. again really easily. I have also gone around the join with clear silicone to stop 'stuff' getting in. Looks great - just wish I could see in the dark 8)

The goo is just polyurethane sealant - i.e. tiger seal - you can get that online from a number of suppliers. I think the brand Geary supplies is "Sikaflex".

Cheers,
