Cambelt tensioner

Hello,
Would anyone be able to tell me if my 2000 S1 has an automatic or manual cambelt tensioner? Looking to change the belt but there is a few options on elise parts.

I was under the impression that it is non vvc, how would I know just by looking?

If its vvc it will be written on the plenum.

Not always. However the plenum will be aluminium, there will be a bulge on the RHS of the head between the head & plenum with the VVC mech and a plastic casing on the end LHS end of the head with the additional pulleys and belt.

111s is not the differentiator for auto vs manual tensioner. Cue Robin to clarify.

Correct,
Early K all used manual tensioner. All VVC and VHPD also use manual tensioner. Lots of tuned heads use manual tensioner.
Standard engines from these engine numbers onwards use auto tensioners (according to Eliseparts):

Simplest solution is to look. You can remove the cambelt cover by taking off just the wheel arch liner and a handful of bolts that hold the cover on to the face of the head/block. You can leave the bottom cover on at this point.
If in doubt, post a picture and we'll tell you which one you have ...

Sorry Woody. And Robin should not have said "correct", as I was incorrect there
Was going on experience with my "cooking" K, where I wound up with manual tensioner belt by mistake. Took Robin a few head scratches to work out what I'd done wrong
