Advice Required "Again"

Evening,

Again I call for advice from the experienced Elise owners and or technical guru's on here.

I purchased a Bluetooth OBD II adaptor to plug into my S2. I plugged it in tonight and tried to connect it to, both my Samsung Galaxy S4 and my Google Nexus 7 tablet. After scanning for Bluetooth devices using the Torque pro app I couldn't get either devise to discover the OBD II adaptor. I also tried using my works I-Phone again could not discover the devise.

Both android devices are running on 4.3 and 4.4.2 respectively.

Has anyone had experience in the past using the Torque Pro app and any Bluetooth adaptor?

I did read that some adaptors are only compatible with Android versions 4.0 or earlier so I am heading round to a mates house tomorrow to try connecting the adaptor to an older phone to see if this works.

My aim is to see some real time figures from the car on a regular basis without having to purchase expensive hardware and software alike. If anyone could advise on any relatively cheap item and or software to allow me to view some data from the cars ECU I would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks

Danny

Is there any LED on the OBDII adapter to indicate that it is receiving power?

Are you sure it is compatible with the Elise - there are three data standards as part of OBDII and not all adapters implement all three standards.

Bluetooth is a pain in the arse so entirely possible that the device and your handset won't talk to each other - though I would expect it to show up if you just search for devices using the bluetooth configuration of the phone itself. On my 4.4 android phone that is settings->bluetooth->search for devices.

Send a link to the actual adapter you purchased.

Cheers,
Robin

With mine you have to delete all of the phone's paired devices and then pair the adapter first.

I've used one on the sport 160 with my then 4.4.2 android nexus via torque with no issues.

Hi Robin,

Yeah I am getting a red LED on the adapter so there is power.

Thanks

Cannot help with the bluetooth jobbie, but I live in the Bridge of Don and if you need an OBD reader I have an old fashioned one you connect with a wire that works every time you plug it in. Old fashioned I know.....but never let me down yet, unlike my bluetooth phone and satnav and etc...bah humbug...

I've got a bluetooth obd dongle which I use with torque on Android. Did you pair the dongle with your phone before starting torque?

Another with Torque Pro on Bluetooth here. On a Hudl which is 4.1.something but works great. I found the iphone was pretty poor for this.
