As it says in the subject, came on last night, not flashing and the car seems to running normal. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Usually just a misfire detected if it's not flashing and there's no other symptoms. Should clear in about 5 starts from memory.

Only worry if it happens regularly (then it's a check of the ignition components) or if it's flashing (then stop immediately)

To be extra safe, get it to any garage with an OBD reader (all of em) get the error codes read and post em up on here, where some bright spark will diagnose the likely issue :thumbsup

Thanks chaps, will see if I can get the fault code if it doesn't clear itself.

Get the code anyway - it's stored in the ECU whether or not the MIL is on and it could be something that when it fails properly leaves you stranded.

So had it in the garage today, turns out to be the cat not running as efficiently as it should be. They reset the light and hasn't come back on, yet... Car is driving fine so will just leave it and if it ends up needing done I might opt for a full Larini system instead of the OEM cat.

There is no code for "car not running as efficiently as it can". What was the actual code, if you know it?

Cheers,
Robin

[cough] He said "Cat" not "car" [cough],... now pay attention Robin!

Ah - secondary O2 sensor (or primary O2 sensor, or cat, or wiring ...) - as I say the actual code might be handy as it indexes a bunch of specific fault possibilities as opposed to the more general text.

Cheers,
Robin

He said it was the actual cat not a sensor fault, the efficiency of the cat was not 100%. He said the sensors are fine. Not got the code unfortunately but the light has not come back on so I'll just wait and see what happens :)

Cool - but next time, get a note of the actual code the machine popped out.

Reason we ask, IIRC, is that some of the codes the S2 pings out say one thing in the generic 'book of OBD codes', but can actually indicate something different on the Elise. Good old Lotus.

Glad it doesn't sound like it's anything major though.
