Hi all Just wondering if there is an upgrade kit for a k s2 elise. Changing seems to be good until I go from 4th to 5th and back again. Is this common?

Hi, have a look at this http://www.eliseparts.com/shop/index.ph ... cts_id=253

Dan is fitting one for me on Friday, along with the short shift leaver. Hopefully it will tighten up the play I have in every gear. Hoping to be at KH on Sat if your up and want a look.

The geary linkage is good - I've fitted it to my S2 and it make the world of difference.

Not so sure about a quick shift though - I've heard a few folk who say that it removes the "feel". That is to say they aren't sure if they have engaged a gear or not.

Cheers

gear linkage is brilliant, but really all it replaces that's worth replacing is a couple of rubber bushes for posher ones - some folk have managed to source these two bushes on their own for about a tenner (try seloc to find out where) - i spent the £35 for the eliseparts one, and it's brilliant, but like i say the only real difference between it and the oem is those two bushes.

I did have a quickshift, but i've taken it off and sold it.

firstly it exacerated all the bad bits of my gearbox, i.e. where my gearbox occasionally takes a bit of a tug to get into 2nd, with the quickshift it just wouldn't go in (and that's with a LOT of playing about with the linkage to make sure it was adjusted right!)

secondly, i love the way that the gear knob is right up beside the steering wheel for quick changes - a joy to use!

with the quickshift, the gear knob is dropped by a couple of inches and just not such fun!

What he said, my quickshift will be binned as soon as I can be bothered. It just makes the box more user unfriendly and the g/f struggles to find gears sometimes as it is too heavy.

Anyone want a quickshift?

I did the same - fitted the linkage and Q/S, well I fitted just the new bushes, as the linkage itself was fine. The new bushes deliver a great improvement to the mechanism though. I took the Q/S off fairly soon as I just didn't think it improved anything.

Having said that, it seems to be a personal thing - there are loads of people who swear by the Q/S and reckon it's one of the better mods.
