Difficult to Seledct 1 & 2 & 3 etc

Looking to purchase an Elise, visited several contenders.
In a W Reg May 2000 S1, it was difficult to select several gears. It does NOT have the RED hose.

I believe a bracket may be moving at the slave cylinder end?

Other recent post indicates an Elise parts Gear Linkage Kit, would this solve the issue?

Thanks

Andy

do a search on the forum mate, I'm sure this has been asked before. IIRC, there are retaining clips that can come loose at the rear of the car(although I think that might effect reverse only?). Make sure you move the stick accross the gate before you start it up, that could make a difference.

best of luck :)

The standard car doesn't do this, so no upgrade is required, just (probably) clean and adjust the standard linkage. Eliseparts sell two kits - one is an improved linkage and one is a "quick shift". The former might be useful if you still don't like the standard setup, the latter probably not.

Cheers,
Robin

Welcome Andy. Probably would sort it but why not look elsewhere? there are plenty about.

For what it's worth - The red hose isn't really an issue until the middle of summer when you can get a fair amount of heat soak.

TBH - I only noticed it once with Mandy's car, and other than that the gear shift on her S1 is still better than my S2 (despite my S2 having the elisepart linkage) - be sorry to see it go

WRT red clutch hose, I had a problem with mine so got it changed. I know Robin suffered with it very badly on the french frolic, although that was extremely hot. Some cars are worse than others though.

Wouldn't have thought it would have been an issue at this time of year.

Fair enough in the summer - some cars will suffer worse than others and it should be a high priority mod for S1 owners.

Yeh, sorry Mac, was answering your point on clutch hoses not being an issue, rather than what was causing Andy's problems.

I would suspect cable clips for the difficulty selecting gears
