Locking up

Hey all,

I've been away with work for a few weeks so the elise has been sat outside unused.

I'm staying at the In laws tonight in the borders and heading up to SIDC tomorrow.

A couple weeks back I had braided hoses fitted so I thought if give them a work out on the way up from Newcastle to the borders tonight. Much to my surprise I found it very easy to lock up not only the front but all 4 wheels. When I got to the in laws I checked the car over and the brakes seem fine (I am of very low technical ability).

Checked the date codes in the ad05s and it looks like they were made in 05!

I presume this would be the main reason for the lock ups? Tbh I'm a little worried for the TD tomorrow now. Are there any other likely culprits of the lock up other than the old tyres?

Best place to take an old set of tyres.

Is it not just a case of getting used to the improved braking ability ? (I am also of low technical ability)

I'm no tyre expert, but if your near done, try new and go from there.... Let us know how it goes.

I had thought about that but I'd didn't feel like it was shedding speed very well. I guess it'll be a tentative warm up session!

I changed my front 5 year old low miles ad05s a couple of months after putting the car on the first this year. The they were horrible, especially in any sort of damp.

Just to update; got a very helpful email from Craig and I only locked up once on track - user error, completely missed my braking point!

Tyres are very much passed their best so will bin them off over the winter refresh
