4 Wheel alignment near Edinburgh

Post by jammacdo » Wed Oct 22, 2014 2:39 pm

Guys

Wheres a good place to do 4 wheel alignment/tracking for my S2 near the Edinburgh area? I had it done ages ago by Dan Jude but needs redone as its slightly off. Not going to Newcastle just for that though.

Thanks

James

The standard answer was CLCM in Sighthill, but it seems that Willie has retired and perhaps standards have slipped, from what I hear. Not sure if anyone has recent (last few months) experience of their work?

Appreciate the response, don't want some spanner money making a hash of it. :)

I haven't been for years, but for a long time I always trusted John at Progrip, then in Bonnybridge now in Larbert. Not Edinburgh, but not far :) I'll be taking the Insignia there as soon as I get a free day to get it reset.

MMC sorted mine out. Not sure where they took it but it made a huge difference to the car and wasn't too pricey. £70 iirc

70 quid is fine, sure it was 80 last time about 5 year ago for Dan Jude. Will give MMC a shout. Cheers.

Murrays use clcm for their alignments.

CLCM did mine just after I bought the Elise, big improvement and they re centred my steering wheel while at it. I've heard they do MMC's work so makes sense to go there.

Keep us appraised of how you find them. I used CLCM several times over the last 10 years, but the recent chat about them going downhill after Willie's retirement has reconsidering. Would be useful to get a real first-hand report of the new management.

Per Shugs first post, have those recommending clcm used them in last few months? I have, and it was my experience with the family wagon that put Mike Scib off. MMC don't use clcm now either.

I hadn't used them before but my experience was way below what I expected. Basically just not that interested. After hanging around at the desk and being ignored whilst one guy and the secretary seemed to be having a carry on at a PC I was handed a sheet without a word. Asked guy to go over it which seemed a big inconvenience and I was told this is before- this is after. Went to pay and price was higher than told on phone earlier when I called to ask if car was ready. After some grumbling they agreed the earlier price but said it would have to be cash only.
When I read the sheet on way back to car I noticed lots of the post measures were still out of tolerance. I went back in and was told that was because only toe had been adjusted as that was all that could be done on my car! I'm no techy but even I challenged this. Both the guys were foreign and communication was tough. In the end it was just too much hard work. Their last offer was to try it and any problems bring it back. I walked away.

I know it's the other end of the M8 but Kenneth Brown in Hillington does an excellent job, might be worth the drive?

Another option is performance hq in dalgety bay. They've done my cars in the past and are quite reasonable on price too.
