Scottish Elises

Off to add a new tool to my automotive collection - a multimeter - and this got me thinking.

Scotty used to pack a toolkit capable of rebuilding a 211, into a Forge Steel toolbag fitted into the footwell.

Robin has a couple of extra small toolboxes that seemed to contain all he ever needed too.

So with my First French Frolic approaching in the coming year, I want to build The Ultimate Elise Survival Kit, Lite Edition. TUESKLE for short

So I have the Forge Steel Bag...and a good array of tools already. But what to pack?! Start me off then...

I don't think Robin will fit in the bag!!!!

Given that tools are only as useful as those wielding them, my TUESKLE would consist of:

1x mobile phone to call the AA.
Gummi Bears.

It's probably easier to take a spare S1 if that's what you're driving

Robin might well be present, but squeezed into his own S1 or S2

But it's important to at least try to be self sufficient. My bodged toolkit was also put to good use for others at Spa in 2010, so it's as much about care in the community.

Think Steve's about covered it all and maybe you could split the tool load between the cars that are travelling together.You'll also need to carry certain items in each car in accordance with the countries you travel through and I think the French are/have relaxed a bit on the breathalyser rule but for all the cost then maybe just as well to carry a couple.
Might also be worth carrying a kit of tyre plugs(motorcycle kit?) and CO2 cylinders to re-inflate(bicycle kit?).....only suggesting these as they take up very little room and sometimes the "tyreweld" can't mend a puncture and this might get you off the autoroute/to a safer place.

You are welcome to come over to mine, sort through tools/boxes and pack up the two wee tool boxes - I normally cannot be arsed these days - but given my recent run rate of failure, it would make sense!

I find that having a good set of 1/4" ratchets, deep sockets to match and ratchet spanners will do most everything except the big stuff. For the big stuff a good 1/2" drive plus impact sockets and a couple of extension has never let me down. I find I very rarely use 3/8" drive so is just a waste of space. One flat bladed, one pozi and one of those 1/4" multi-bit screwdrivers will cover most screws. A sharp knife is very useful!

Cable ties/gaffa as mentioned.

Jubilee clips also useful.

An assortment of M4/M5/M6/M8 nuts and bolts also handy.

Good effort, guys, now we're getting somewhere.

Robin, happy to assemble a kit out of your gear. But you will need to audit it afterwards!

No problems - the stuff that matters is easy to identify

that is where the VX was great...biggest bootspace of all. then again, it never needed fixed.
