Having accidentally run my brake pads down to the erm metal, I set about putting a full new set of discs and pads all round and on today. Done 3 wheels out of the 4 and will finish it off tomorrow. Any advice on bedding them in? Given next Saturday is track day time

There is a procedure of going through speeds and braking pressures, but having gone through dozens of pads of different makes, some being changed on the track where you have no option on how you use them, just break them in with normal breaking interspersed with hard applications every so often when they are warmed up.

Pargids advice is along the lines of several hard stops from 70mph.

I've got a document with the car that came from lotus that explains the process for bedIng in the AP disks and pads for the s2 exige. Won't be home till Sunday but I'll scan it and stick it up. It was quite technical in a geeky kinda way.

I've gone for Mintex 1144 pads on Ultimax turbo grooved discs over brembo OEM items that came with my car. Which I hope are fine for my day to day driving and 2-3 track days per year.

This is the same set up as me. I had Craig fit them last week. I've just driven the car normally to bed them in tbh and they seem perfectly fine to me.

Try and do some miles with just normal braking first to ensure full pad surface contact with the disc.
The idea is then to get them up to working temperature in a controlled manner and keep them there to start the even transfer of material to the disc.
Don't worry too much, you can do this in your first few laps at KH.
On the way to a sprint I once bedded in brakes on the A90...traffic was quiet!

Managed to finish off all my discs / pads without much drama... Quite straight forward and even better when it's sunny! Really wanted to do this myself for a change as I love tinkering mechanically, I have the tools, but never really bothered working on the Elise before. My discs did not really need doing in the end but I did them having bought some just in case. I was concerned I had run the pads to the metal given the noises this week. All inner pads had barely 1mm left
Also did and oil change, but couldn't swap the filter as the Toyota garage gave me what I thought was the right one having cross checked with Craig at Murrys. My engine is a 2ZR and I thought I needed a paper filter, what was on was a 2ZZ engine one I think. So left for now as its due an annual service at Murrys in a month or two.
Wash and a polish and a nice drive to Inverurie with the roof off ended my day nicely...
Thanks for the advice folks
