Inlet Manifold Removal

Post by les » Fri Apr 17, 2015 11:31 pm

Before I bleed the cooling system (after rad change) I thought I may as well swap out the Inlet Manifold for the DTHTB's (Jenvey ITB's from S2 VHPD). Plastic manifold is off but I'm not sure how disconnect the fuel supply hoses. I'm assuming I need to de-pressurise the system first but how?? Dave Andrews makes it sound so easy in a post on SELOC:
"release the fuel pressure from the rail by undoing the two bolts securing the supply hose at the air filter end and removing it"

Cheers

I remember having to bath my eyes in water for ages after getting petrol sprayed in my face from doing just that. Lesson learned. Pretty painful too and finding my way to the sink whilst being blind was not easy.
Just make sure you close your eyes on release. :)

I never bother releasing the pressure. Just press the button and give it a yank

Have a rag wrapped round the connection when you undo it to stop getting fuel everywhere (including eyes) :)

OR remove the fuel pump fuse and crank the engine and run (if it starts) until it stalls ...

Cheers,
Robin

P.S. Not so easy if you've already removed the inlet manifold ... use a rag as suggested above.

My S1 cream injectors are too long to fit the fuel rail so having to use the EU2 injectors that came with the manifold, can anyone confirm that I no longer require the ICAV. All I need to grab from the existing manifold is the temp sensor and the injector loom itself

The s2 190 did have an iacv if I am not mistaken. You may well require it to achieve idle at hot and cold.
