Told this is something of a pig to do. Should I consider tackling myself, and if so, do any guides exist for how to?
Thanks
James

I have one I bought from EP and never used if you haven't bought one yet

Guides on everything but can not find a full one on this.
"...from the engine bay the cable runs down underneath the sump (through a 'p' clip) and then comes into the cockpit and runs along the central tunnel before looping round to the accelerator pedal linkage assembly. You'll need to undo the central divider between the seats to access the cable and be careful when reassembling it not to trap the new cable or any of the wiring harness and gear cables that run along there too. You'll need to remove the footwell divider too and the engine undertray obviously. Not a particularly difficult job but it will take a while and can be quite painful adopting the classic Lotus position...flat on your back, head in the footwell with your feet in the air!"

The p-clip on the sump likes to shear off too. But theres an unpopulated m8 blind hole beside it if the worst happens. I found this when i did my rear brake lines.

is there anything wrong with the outer cable sheath? if not changing the inner cable shouldn't prove too tricky?

Not sure Mark, but it's sticking on a times and it was picked up late last year as a "needs done soon job"

Definitely the cable then & not maybe the throttle body (which are known to stick)?

It has/had a metal 52mm Throttle body Woody, not sure these stick much? would the IACV cause similar? Or lambda?
I put a decat on my car 2 weeks ago with the elise parts MIL delete wire and since the revs stick high for a few seconds when stopping in traffic or at lights etc, sits a 1500 RPM, thinking the capacitor in the elise parts kit is taking too long to adjust the lambda reading to the ECU?? again I've no idea if this is indeed the issue or not??

Shug & I did his yonks ago when I had access to the pit. Don't recall it being that hard. Access at the pedal end is tight so the skinny lanky one did that end and I did the greasy end.
Taking out the driver's seat simplifies it.

Spot on thanks for the advice mate, got a new one coming courtesy of ferg and gonna replace the linkage at the same time. Really want to remove some of the spongy feeling on the throttle, want it as sharp as possible so any other suggestions for helping that would be appreciated.
Cheers

There's a linkage above the pedal which always has loads of play in it. M4 machine screws go through holes in short, pressed rods which go oval. Turn out some nice new bushes for it and itll help a lot.
Stops it ratteling too.

The bearing'd linkage from EP isn't expensive.
