Tyres

Read a few threads on the best tyres to go for, but most seem to focus on track use.
My S2 111 standard fits are coming to an end (Bridgestone Potenza RE040, front 16", rear 17")
The car's in all-year-round use, so what's the recommended tyre for driving on mainly town roads & motorways for the next 4-5 months, taking into account the likeliehood of wet roads (and possibly snow & ice!)

Probably the standard fit Potenzas or the Yokos fitted to the newer cars as standard - I think they are cheaper too.

If you can get Toyo Proxes T1-R or T1-S, they are probably a very good bet. Been using T1-S on my S1 for years, since original Bridgestone SO-2 went out of production (it was the legendary wet weather tyre for Scoobs and Elises!).
Not sure of availability for S2 sizes but I think it can be done.

t1r's are crap for the first 1k miles and go off really quickly on track.
I'd go for the Yokos that they fit as standard now

I got the impression he was unlikely to use them on track. Once past the initial running in, I think Toyos really hit the mark as wet tyre. But I have no experience of the Yokos you mention, right enough.

I do and I'd go for them. Toyos are pish in comparison and not worth saving £100 for IMO.

I'm not a fan of the Toyo's either, had them on the Sport 135 and even the yoko 048's on the Exige seem better in the wet

Can you get those Yokos for the S1? Are they the Advan Neovas, or summat different?

Yoko's Advan branding is a little strange.
The UK site doesn't work too well so this info is from the USA site.
The AD07s from the S2 are here:
http://www.yokohamatire.com/advan/default.asp
They are Advan Neovas.
This is what most people seem to call the Advans for the S1, however, they don't appear on Yokohama's site but are listed by Bell and Colvill as Yokohama Advan LTS.
So the answer is yes they're Advan Neovas, no they're not the same as the S1 Advans and they don't do them in S1 sizes.
Clear as mud

Just been on to Drivers, Gla for Yoko Advan Neova AD07, and told "you can only buy them from Lotus" - specific to that car.
Surely not?
------------
Just seen an earlier post from Simon giving MMC prices, and SE discount.
Aren't as dear as I would have expected for a franchised gaff, so I'll give em a try.

They are LTS marked because they are a Lotus specific tyre. So they're right, you can't buy them elsewhere.
