Well the to do list on my car is growing in prep for my euro trip, Luckily Craig is on hand and on the ball, I'm needing brake pads and rear discs, my costs are escalating and I'd love to slap some RS42 on, currently 1144, not sure what way to go with this, I can get the mintex at a good price as a mate works at a parts store, RS42 are £260 a set eeeks....

Has anyone tried the Brembo Sport HP2000 pads from Yvo? They're tempting but seem very road orientated, I'm planning a bit of track driving this year and the euro trip and NC500 etc so want something that will take some abuse....

I had RS14 on my S1 and found them wooden on the road..

What do you recommend? Anyone got any they're wanting to move on give me a shout

Was about to post I have a used set of front RS14's for sale Mark. Doh!

RS42. Perfect balance, worth the money.

I've used 1144 too. RS42 still better IMHO.

They are my pad of choice Campbell, it's just I'm having a bit of 'Prep@ done on the car for the summer/trips etc at the mo and my costs are spiraling and I need the car and some money left over for the trip lol..

So far...
C Service, Oil and Filter, Gear box Oil, Brake Fluid, coolant, Belts, Tensioner, Plugs, New Alternator, fit tyres, new ball joint, ride height adjust, geo, Brake pads and discs, inlet manifold gasket, adjust window to seal to new roof, possible fix lighter socket....

Craig is working miracles on my car as we speak but all that work is not going to be cheap and he has time restraints too but I'm relaxed that the car is in the right place with the right man but he did mention a couple of other little odds and sods needing addressed at some point.

The brembo's sales patter is attractive as is the price but I really don't want something that's going to fade on track

1144s are false economy. Premium to Pagids is in the noise in light of all the other things you are doing.

Just do it. Why spoil the trip of a lifetime?

I'll echo Campbell's comments here in saying the 1144's are a good fast road pad, but I found them to be quite grabby when pushed to high temps on track. Agree with you on the RS14's on the road Mark, but these really come alive when you get some good heat in them. They're the best pads I've used if you can stomach the disc wear and keep them hot.

Not tried the RS42's personally, but I only hear good things about them as a mix of road and track pads. Not as aggressive on the discs as the RS14 either.

Just as a counter, I use 1144 on road and track and find them to be great, with no real noticeable drop off in stopping power.

But then I'm not very good so I'm not travelling at high speed! I've also used CL's and they were exceptional but pricey.

Mark, I have some lightly used CL5+ if you're baulking at the price of new ones. Personally I think, despite having to make sure you prevent rattles and that the backing plates oxidise badly, that the stopping power on CL5+s are worth it.

My CL 5s were great until the pad came away from the plate.

When did this happen (What year?) and what sort of abuse/use were they getting, was it just a bad batch or a re-occurring issue with them? Have you had any issues Stu? Ferg how old are your pads, possible to be of the detaching back plate era?

I'm very interested in your pads ferg if they're likely to stay in one piece lol as I know Stu doesn't give his car much sympathy so they must be good/decent from him to trust them??

I have never had a problem with them. Cl6,s. I have seen it happen, usually in the winter.

My CL5s also detached (at Spa going into La Source). Spoke to Eliseparts and got an unofficial "they all do that sir - track pads, they don't like lack of heat on the road".

Pagid RS pads have a patented retention system, to hold the friction material to the backing plate.

I trust them a lot.

Anyone on here tried any of the new RST pads from Pagid? It's my understanding the RS14 and 42 compounds are being phased out in favour of the new RST compounds.

Three years ago on a spirited road run just a few miles from home.

Kinger gave me a used set of pads (not sure which make) just after and kindly fitted them for me.
