2-11 tyres....

Post by Simon82 » Sat Sep 17, 2016 10:42 am

So looking to change tyres on the 2-11 as rears are done. Currently on R888's so the question is do I go with ZZR's or something more road biased like AD08's? AD08's only come in 205/40 for the front though instead of 195/50 as far as I can see, anybody know if these would rub at all?

Open to other suggestions too! Any info much appreciated!

The ZZRs are good. Avon have released a ZZS at the same price point that's more road focused. I.e. Better in wet conditions. Maybe worth a look? Nice looking tyre too. :-)

Yeah I was thinking about them Ferg but no availability yet unfortunately. I've asked Avon to let me know when they are available but I'm needing tyres now unfortunately.

The ZZS is going to be the same price as ZZR which are about £200-£250 a set more than AD08r's.

I can understand paying more for the ZZR's seeing as they are more a track tyre but seeing as the ZZS and AD08's are supposed to be a similar tyre I can't understand how they can justify the price difference personally.

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).

If it's any reference I'll be putting more road focused tyres on next time round. AD08s most likely. The extra grip from the semi slick ZZR is amazing but they are so good it kind of stops the car moving around so much. Or it certainly does at my power (talent) level. Others might be able to push them harder.

With you on that Ferg, they do make it slightly more boring on track as they are so good. Ad08's do move more and also way better with standing water although ultimately not as quick.

Simon I'm sure Stu had ad08's on his 211 and no rubbing. I've got 215 fronts on mine and even they don't rub.

Cheers for the input guys I'll go with the ad08's for now I think and see about a set of track wheels if I find I'm not keen on them on track. Just hope the slightly lower profile doesn't cause it to ground out more

At this time of year, the Ad08,s will be best. Infact, you may never use another tyre after you have tried them.

I had ordered the wrong size, a profile to low, 195 45 15 I think.
