Oh no, MOT time and my shock is leaking

Right rear shock (ok damper) has been leaking all down to the ball joint. It does look like a leaky damper. :(

So looking at Elise Parts for replacements they are mega$$$ I guess I have to replace them all given the springs look like they are all rusting, the paint is flaking off etc. They are the originals which means they are 14 years old now. They are the standard yellow (Bilstein?) dampers.

Is this what I need?

These ones are about the same price.

Is there any reason to go for either one, I dont want loads of adjustment as I dont do track days and cant be bothered faffing with them, plus dont fancy spending over a grand on suspension, or is there even better solution to pass the MOT?

thanks :D

How quickly do you need it?

Another option is to get them refurbished by Bilstein rather than change damper to something that won't be the same (whether the streets are better or worse is a matter of opinion and your pattern of use)

IMO for purely road use, a set of Bilsteins in good condition with the damping working properly are better than the aftermarket options.

Thanks Shug. So I guess tomorrow might be a little too soon :) I will put it through the MOT then see what happens, either way they need done. I see loads of views on suspension but for 100% road use I want something that just works over our sh*t roads. I'll see if I can find the Bilstein contact to understand the process and price for refurb.
