Emissions fail

Post by Kinger » Sun Oct 08, 2017 7:19 pm

I had a bit of a feeling my emissions wouldn't pass an MOT ( black a sooty exhaust) which is due around the time of my Donnington/Cadwell trip. I took the S1 down to local garage for a quick emissions check which confirmed my suspicions.

I'm wondering if any of our SE boffins can point me in a direction of where the problem might be.

Elise has Emerald ECU, Kiwi Rog Head and uprated cams. I've attached a copy of the previous pass certificate which was carried out after its last remap and rolling road session. Only change since original test is new IACV fitted ?, I've also attached a copy of the fail cert.

The garage couldn't offer any advice of what I could do to resolve the issue, don't want to fork out for a new CAT if the current problem is likely to screw it up or if its not even required.

Any advice welcome, also can anyone recommend Emerald specialist in Aberdeen area?

Ricky knows the Emerald inside out Graham. He also uses a friends garage to MOT it.

Easy to put an alternative MAP in suitable for an MOT.

Echo Tut's comments that its a mapping problem - best guess is it's not setup to use closed loop fueling with the o2 sensor.

Should be a quick fix with the Emreald software.

have had some success with short term additives, add a bottle to the tank and it cleaned up the emissions ok.. buggered if I can remember what they were called. "Forte"? or something like it...
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

Never mind mapping, fuel additives etc.. surely the easiest option is a friendlier MOT inspector. :thumbsup

Just fuel, was not going to waste the additive when I could drink it and knock 0.1 secs off my best time.
