Nearside rear calliper.......

Post by Type23 » Mon Oct 16, 2017 8:49 pm

Does anyone have one of these lying around or can anyone point me in the right direction for a cheap option to replace the one I need to get the car through its MOT? Thanks in advance (again)

I got an exchange pair from Livingston Auto Parts, a few years ago now, I could ask if they still do them if you want.

If you're on seloc, try Junks (Phil Peek), he's supplied some for me and others in the past.

Are they not just standard MGTF?

Nope, they're derived from a 90ies Renault and the dodge viper's rear calipers.

Livi auto parts can offer a rebuild service, 7working day turnaround, for £97.50.

I had a problem with rear calipers recently. Couldn't find anyone at the time who could refurbish - Livingston Auto Parts no longer provide this service. I had Craig's guys at CMC help free off the slider, which was stuck very solidly in the caliper, and then rebuilt using a "Brembo Refurbishment Kit", from Elise Parts. I have since heard, although I haven't confirmed, that Pentland Component Parts ( 0131 538 7920 ) can have them refurbed for you.

I've got a good condition used one from my VX220 (bought a pair, only needed the OSR). The piston boot is slightly split I believe (easy to change), but seems fully operational other than that..

I'm in Aberdeen if you need it this weekend.

Getting difficult on this part, clearly. Had probs myself recently. Used Livi Auto Parts in the past too, so sad to see they have bailed on this.

Time for stockpiling...
