Anybody know how these secure? There doesn’t seem to be any screws visible (although I didn’t take the backing plate off)

the screws that hold the backing plate in place also cleanup the trumpets usually. Looks like yours has some sort of clamping ring, did you check the tightness of the backing plate screws?

Yeah the backing plate screws are all tight, can’t see how the flare on the trumpet would be held by that though - the TB and trumpet base are tight, it’s just the top part that is loose. Maybe there’s some kind of retaining ring behind the plate?

Best bet would be to remove the backplate and trumpets to find out why some are loose. Not a monster job.

Yeah you're probably right - tackling those rusty backing screw bolts is a job for another day I think!
