Powder coating in Aberdeen

Post by jimbo » Tue Nov 20, 2018 1:03 am

Anyone know a friendly powder coating company in Aberdeen who don't charge the earth? Looking to get my roll over and harness bar done to freshen them up. Have used PPS in Inverurie before but they're not the cheapest.

Cheers

Gave me a reasonable quote for blasting / coating a wishbone set.

I also used Customised Coatings for some wheels. Did a good job and reasonably priced.

Over the years I've done quite a few suspension rebuilds of mine and other peoples, even did tuts. The last one I did was AU55 which Mike Scrib now owns but after doing them all but AU55 powder coated the issue I discovered with PC is it isn't very resistant to stone chipping it's just to hard and tends to flake which lets water in behind and then it comes off.
For AU55 the wishbones were blasted and primed and then sprayed with smootherite although others have used POR15 which is supposed to be very good.

Just food for thought as powder coating isn't the be all and end all for something that lives in such a harsh environment.

POR15 is worth a look if you are looking for rust proofing protection qualities.
Bit fussy in applying but very DIYable, also doesn’t need blasting prep.
Only specific versions are UV stable so tends to need a normal topcoat paint though.

Is POR15 an option for under my seats then?

If you have look on SELOC i am almost positive someone repaired their footwell with it. Search it over there and you should end up with a bunch of hits to let you see what you can do with it.
