Manual Cambelt Tensioner
Manual Cambelt Tensioner
The Rover engine manual states that on VVC engines with manual tensioner, the spring and post are to be removed once the tension is set however for the non VVC engine this is not required, spring and post are left in place. Any idea why they are different ?
Re: Manual Cambelt Tensioner
On another note, I believe the tensioner used is not always the one stated.
If you're not living on the edge you're wasting too much space!
Re: Manual Cambelt Tensioner
Correct. Going by engine numbers in the manual mine should have been an automatic tensioner but isn't.

Correct. Going by engine numbers in the manual mine should have been an automatic tensioner but isn't. Fortunately i removed the cover before buying the kit.
Re: Manual Cambelt Tensioner
I think all vvc engines had manual tensioners when built. Memory is fading but I think the threads in the block are different from vvc to k16.

I need to think about replacing the 21 year old P-Zeros first, still plenty tread on them though (I know, old tyres etc....... they will be replaced before I venture out)

Re: Manual Cambelt Tensioner
P-Zeros were lethal when brand new on anything other than a roasting summer's day in Scotland. I don't imagine for one second that 21 years of getting hard will help at all ...

Keep and sell to a collector looking for originality rather than any driving ability.

Re: Manual Cambelt Tensioner
I guess they could be fitted to a spare set of wheels and used for concourse by someone in future so will hang onto them when i have new ones fitted.
