S1 sticky windows. Old car troubles.

With the warm temperatures I was starting to see a return of the sticking window issues that my car has had for years. Last year the car got so hot the bonding melted on the drivers side and the window came out of the frame. This was resolved with new carrier blocks bonded in by Craigs team.

The window started to stick at the edge the glass where it slides in the rear guide rail. Eventually it managed to bind itself up and pop out one the white plastic rollers from the runner. So rather than going for the planned long evening drive I ended up spending almost an hour swearing at the car and threatening it with putting it up for sale as I have had enough of this sh it.

Relatively simple fix when I finally gave in and removed the door panel completely. Lesson learned, you can't fix it through a tiny gap at the bottom with hand twisting a gynaecologist would be proud of. So everything back in place and it is still sticking... bollocks... grabs the spray grease.

I sprayed a liberal amount of grease on the front and rear runners and the window is now moving up and down like a new car. Smooth with no issues.
Better strip down and spray the other side to fix the sticking on the passenger side too. Simple and both windows now working perfectly.

Mine still isn't done either. My attempt at re-bonding the plastic to the window failed, and any adjustment I've made on the window runner has also failed. I think I need better glue!

One job I did manage successfully many years ago. With Lawrence’s kind assistance.
