Pretty much has been converted, at least part way it's a store at the moment :D

Campbell, ABD for bulbs. Doesn't matter what you fit they are pretty much illegal so need changed back for MOT's.

Usually order from there Mike, thanks for the reminder.

Lifting the light beams a touch (thanks Donald!) has helped but they remain dire. Albeit most of us are spoilt by HIDs on our family barges and the contrast is stark.

Swapping out a couple of pairs of bulbs for each MOT is a small price to pay for night time safety I guess.

The elises problem is headlight height primarily. They paper bright enough just not enough throw. The only one that had anything like decent headlights was my Evora but even that pales next to the golf. Best I've had were our RRS with LED headlights or the R8 which were phenomenal.

The RRS has a minor height advantage

Pods on the roll hoop cover may be the answer

Well it turns out that the headlights I sent for re-coating have disappeared in the post. Will have to see if they turn up in the next week but as of now looking at 2 x new complete headlight units as parts aren't available separately.

Fingers crossed that the headlights turn up Mike, as I don’t suppose buying two new ones will be cheap.

Steve.

Update on the headlights, they never re-appeared good old Royal Mail have know idea where they are. Every cloud has a silver lining and an old forum member got in touch to say he had a set of headlights for an S2 that he bought a long time ago but no longer has a Lotus and that they were mine if I wanted them. Turns out I had fixed his gearbox a while back and this was his chance to repay me.
I'll get some photo updates shortly but as i stands the headlights are back in, front clam back on all sorted and sitting better. Doors open without catching the clam now.
The engine cover has been re-shaped and is currently away to get painted. Once that comes back I'll fit the grills and sort out the boot release mechanism. Cable and electric release this time.
Then it'll be MOT time to see if I missed anything.

Been a while since I updated this and now that the engine cover is finished just need to sort out the run for the pull cable and decide wether to fit an electric opener as well, again!
