Anybody able to answer this one?
I'm going to be replacing the tyres on my recently purchased S1 Elise 135 Sport with Yokohama Advan Neova's. However, I would really like to know what (if any) difference there is between the standard ones you can buy from e.g. Eliseparts and the LTS designated dealer-only model.
Is this just Lotus's way of getting more tyre sales through their dealers??
I've got quotes from Bell & Colvill and seen the price on Eliseparts and it's going to be cheaper from Eliseparts because its free delivery, otherwise the prices are within a couple of quid for a full set front and rear.
So....do you REALLY need to buy the LTS versions or is this a scam?

Was speaking to my tyre supplier / fitter (the guy at our friendly local garage in Johnner) and he mentioned BFG's just like you.
A bit of searching round this forum and SELOC and it appears the G-Force Profilers have a good reputation so I'm going for them. Saves me having to get tyres delivered + he fits the tyres for free if he supplies them. The money saved can go on alignment / tracking / geometry checks as the two fronts currently on the car are both illegal on the inner tyre edge. Camber angles are out or something...

Should be around £80 from him for a full setup, though there's probably less to do on your car as I presume you don't have adjustable dampers.

The previous owner fitted the S2 upgrade (Bilsteins + Eibach) and I have read in a couple of forums that its best to get the geometry checked if this has been done. I dont know if it was checked or not when the old Koni dampers / springs were ditched.

Geo will have been checked with new susp fitment. would drive like sack of spuds otherwiise.
Standard settup will wear the insides quicker & previous owner may have had a slightly more aggressive set up dialled in so would result in more pronounce wear on insides. 340R settings are only a couple of shimms away from standard and give you a lot more aggressive turn in.
There is a bag of shims floating about SE somewhere.
WRT Geo. I'd of thought you have two options....buy new tyres, leave geo as is (getting it checked won't hurt), muck about with the pressures & see how you go. Or get the geo returned to standard (if it isn't already) and start out fresh.
If you search on geo settings, you'll find details. Worth getting in touch with previous owner to find out what ride height S2 bilstein kit they fitted (there are three or four different height combos).
All the above is just my ramblings, If you call Mark at Banckory he'll talk you through it.l

Dont worry about that, I made sure he ordered the right type of BFG's. (He will make more money on them as well, he's not that daft, more expensive tyre).
Car's in to get them fitted tomorrow (Tuesday).
I will see how she feels to drive and then might pay Mark up at Banchory a visit so he can give the car the once-over.
