Which V6 Brake Pads?

I've replaced a couple of sets of the standard Ferrodo pads and was thinking of changing.

I was a big fan of CL5+ on my S1 Elise and Exige so those are at the top of the list, but there are a number of other options. What are people using? For use on road and track.

Ferodo ds1.11. Awesome pads and as it happens I have a heavily discounted new set for sale.

They last so long that I didn’t need to use them. Also have a half worn rear set.

I have heard that the Performance Friction 08 Brake dust set like cement once wet onto the wheel rims, but maybe Ali C can comment.

There is a few threads on the Lotus Forums if you search.

Worth saying that any Carbon Ceramic compound creates nasty results on your wheels in some way. Looks like there are several options, all with a downside. Whether it be corrosive dust, or disk abrasion, or something else. I suppose there's always a compromise with performance.

Decided against CL due to the disk wear reported. Big D is a fan of the DS1.11 which almost has me convinced. Performance friction are widely rated. Decisions decisions

Which discs are you using them with? Standard discs don't seem to work well with the more aggressive pads - I had issues with pad transfer

Yeah, they're std but I don't have budget for alloy bells just now.

I remember you having issues at Spa. Did you have the same issue again?

It was CL pads I had issues with at Spa. Got them changed for what was meant to be standard but turned out to be Pagid Black and had the same problem. Changed back to standard and no issues since. I'm now running the Elise shop bells and rotors which are cheaper than standard discs so tempted to try more aggressive pads again if I ever get near a track.

The ES setup is attractive. Beyond that budget I'd want to up the diameter and reduce the heated fort going on. Dreaming though.

On the S1s I was a major CL fan, but for the V6 I think needs something else.

The bigger diameter discs do look good. Just not sure there's much need other than for bling value. I must be getting old! :D

I'm thinking they are only really good for lower temps and therefore disk and pad life.

I have the 343mm big brake front and rear kit from Seriously Lotus along with the Pagid RS29 yellow endurance pad and I am really impressed by it all so far. Looking forward to seeing how they perform on track hopefully soon. I called Dave from SL after a few weeks of use to let him know how impressed I was with his product and he burst out laughing saying, “if you think that they are good now, wait until you get your car on track and get some heat into the pads and then you will be even more impressed”.

I will report back after the Anglesey, Oulton, Cadwell trip hopefully next month.

I didn’t buy them for the bling. It was just that my discs required replacing and I really fancied one of the upgraded sets to see how much better they were. They do look good though.
