Using 2 fobs ?

Post by Julien » Wed Jun 23, 2021 6:37 pm

Hi everybody,

When i bought my Elise, there was one key and one fobs for the alarm.
One day i forgot the key with the fobs in my pocket, and all went in the washing machine

The fobs did not work, so a change the battery and i made an initialization of the fobs with the car.
So now it's ok, all works perfectly :D

Last weekend my wife was on a ride in Bretagne while i was working...
But monday morning, the car refuse to start 500Km away from the house...
I explain to my wife how to re initialize the fobs, but i think the fobs is not in good condition.
Car finaly restart.

So i ordered a new fob on EliseParts.com, but i have a question :
As i understand, the fobs and the car change the frequency, or the code to unlock the car each time, so if i have 2 fobs, the second never knows how many time i unlock the car before ?

If i use the second fobs, i have to re initialize the second fobs ?

Many thanks for your help, Julien

I have 2 fobs for my 111r and both work regardless of how often you use one rather then the other. Once the fob has been initialised it is effectively remembered by security system and should work.
I say should because at the end of the day it's a Lotus and can stop working at any moment for no explicable reason.
