S1 Exhaust movement

Post by Kinger » Fri Aug 20, 2021 3:22 pm

After the SIDC trackday I notice my Exhaust had moved towards the passenger side of the car. I took the exhaust, Cat and Flexi pipe off and cleaned everything up. Set it all back up with new silicone mounting rubbers and the exhaust outlets sitting centrally in the rear clam.

After Wednesday's track day I've noticed it's moved back left to the passenger side, almost touching the clam.

I'm wondering if it could be the engine mounts needing to be replaced, would appreciated your thoughts.

Cheers

Wouldn’t think it would be the engine mounts if replacing the rubber hangers fixed it last time.

Rubbers getting to hot then cooling with the exhaust off centre?

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).

Don’t think it worked last time, it was only central until I gave it the works on track.

Is the tail pipe loose?

No, the exhaust hangers have moved through the rubber mounts.

Another question on the same subject, how flexible should the flexi joint be on the Exhaust link pipe. Mines seems pretty rigid ?

Hi Robin, enjoy Spa today 😀😀

I changed the hanger rubbers at the same time as the engine mounts and exhaust stayed in position during the Oulton/ Donington days 👍
