S1 rear window fitting

Post by SteveJB » Tue Jun 07, 2022 6:09 pm

Refitting rear window after a lengthy rebuild and I bought a replacement seal some time ago expecting it to be the circular tubing that goes round the inside of the window. I was sent a square seal (about 1cm across) which is only just over the length of the window. Should this sit below or above the window or have I been sent the wrong seal? Had it too long to send back.

Does it not stick on to the perimeter of the window cabin side?
If you're not living on the edge you're wasting too much space!

If it's the old Shugmobile (hello Steve!) then it'll have the later sloped rear window to stop the weird headlight reflections in the mirror. Can't honestly remember how the seal fits on it, but if you've got the seal for bare glass, might be wrong.

The one from EP is a half moon seal like you expected, and it sticks to the cabin side of the casing. I can take pictures if it would help.

Might be that your seal is for the window and casing to sit on? Again, comparing to an existing one might be best.

I pulled mine off last night to have a look at this.

I have the sloping window. The seal runs the circumference of the window edge and is stuck on the face of the glass on the cockpit side.
Seal is approx 12mm in diameter, round/oval section.

I took pics if you want them emailed.
