Elise friendly MOT garage urgently needed!

Post by Fluoxetine » Wed Nov 08, 2006 10:35 am

The MOT is up on the shed next week, and having only just returned from work yesterday after a fortnight away, I need to get it through asap...(Need it done before heading for Oulton Park next Thursday).

I had hoped to use the local guy who does all sorts of bits & pieces for me, but I'm just off the phone and he's got jury duty next week, and won't take a booking...

Does anyone know of an 'Elise friendly' MOT station in the central belt? (I live in Stirling, but would travel)...

There shouldn't be any major issues - All the usual consumables have been replaced recently, and the Cat is still in situ...The only slight issue might be a 6" crack on the windscreen, which is well out of the drivers normal vision...

If this proves an problem, I'll need to make arrangements with Autoglass, and get the front clam off - All within the next week!

Any ideas??

Cheers,

Ross.

Doh - Used search after posting, and spotted the post about Colin Brown in Broxburn...Managed to get the car booked in for Friday morning... :)

(If he managed to pass McKeann's car, the Shed should have no worries...   )

Regent Motors in Mill Road Industrial Estate, Linlithgow, also know what they are doing having worked on mine and Jonathan Neale's.

Ross,

seems you've now got this covered but a closer option would be Doune Motors - I've had both Elise and Caterham MOTd there without problems.

A bit late I guess but Colin does my Elise and he's always been very helpful especially with short notice and late evening bookings. He knows how to treat the car as well.

Went to Colin Brown in Broxburn today for the MOT - great service, friendly people - even got to do all the brake pressing stuff, was fun being up on the ramps in the car. Recommended. :)

(PS Passed with flying colours :D )

Same happened to me, the mechanic didn't think he'd be able to get out if he managed to get into the car

Agreed...Very helpful, but unfortunately the Shed failed on a few things when they MOT'd it back in November... :(

...But Colin gave me a few pointers on the most hassle free way to remedy them, and I finally managed to get it through an MOT in late December... :) :) :)

...only to do this to it...

One thing I've noticed about the S1 (having previously owned an S2) - It leaks like nobody's business, and after 6 weeks outside sitting in my drive had an inch of rain water in both footwells...

Roll on March when I dig it out again from my folks garage...<bg>

I remember when Robin and I originally picked up that car there was a lake in the boot big enough for 2 or 3 carp....

Brakes were a bit rusty too IIRC...

If you are nearby to Broxburn then you cant go wrong with him, it's not the cleanest of garages but they respect the car and do lots of Elises.

That much water in the boot means that the plastic drain pipe was not attached.

My hood is reasonably waterproof, but if in doubt I put the nylon shower cover over the top of it.

Regent Motors in Linlithgow have successfully passed UJI for about 4 years in a row now :thumbsup
