Fitting upgrade shocks. (SteveB)

I am in the process of buying a set of shocks from SteveB from Seloc.

The kit I am going for is the full bore 100/110 set with new brackets front and rear. Will I need a coil spring conpressor or do the shocks unload fully with the wheels in the air?

Would you expect any problems with sheared bolts on a 32k miles car?

Never heard of having to fit the springs onto the dampers on the S2 kit - however I may be wrong. Trying to remember who on the forum has them, so I can point them in the direction of this post.

If the springs are on the dampers when you receive them, there will be plenty of droop to fit. However, try and get the whole car off the deck in a one-ner, as the ARB on the front can make things painful if you're going from 140mm to 100mm and doing it a side at a time (even if you disconnect it, it rests on the wishbone and limits it's travel).

As for bolts, can't see any issues with them - they're sturdy sizes. Obviously, give em a soak in WD40 overnight, to make sure and clean the exposed threads as best you can, but I never have any issues with mine.

I assume you're using it as a predomintely track toy, yeah? 100mm will give you issues with speed bumps and odd driveways...

I will probly do 5-8 track days a year, it will be used a lot on road as well. Its not my only car so it doesnt have to be 100% practical.

Speed bumps, well yes there are some large ones on the entry to the estate but Having spoken to Steve on this I have options to play around with the mounting points/brackets which will take it back to round 120mm all round.

I've got S2 kit on mine. 100mm is too low as it leaves hardly any usable travel. See my thread on S2 kit/handling. Steve has modified rear mounts which i had to modify even further. There is a world of diference if you get the corect brackets/geo and spring settings.

Well its ordered now.. This may seem a bit late now, but the shocks are the same on all his kits? its just the springs and brackets he plays with to get the different ride heights..?

Should really ask him.

Fitted the shocks. No problems.

Also fitted the CRP at the same time. Much better.

Still to get the geo done on thursday at Falkland Perf Cent, which is just along the road from me.
