ECU / MEM Whatever it's called

I'm currently failing to get through the Emmissions test for the MOT - rest of the car going well however!
Dealer has replaced the Lambda sensor, still 7%, rekons the ECU/MEM may need to be replaced - sounds like a pricey job from main dealer (MMC) and I'm thinking of doing it myself - does anyone know how much I should be paying for a standard ECU/MEM for an S1 Elise and also if there's anything I should be looking out for in fitting a new one?
Cheers

I and others have failed emission test via MMC chosen garage.
I took it somewhere else and it passed.
Sometimes (this may not include you) the car needs a good run on the motorway to sort of "flush" the system. Try that and another MOT station before forking out on ECU's etc

you can also buy that additive stuff the flushes everything through. not sure if itll will def get you a pass though.
Good luck!

I had to MOT the Esprit yesterday in preperation for it getting sold. It failed the emissions pretty badly but after an 'enthusiastic' blast up and down a stretch of Dual Carriageway then straight onto the testing machine it passed.

Do you have a cat fitted?
Readings do seem very high, I agree with Gareth

that another tester should be chosen.

Thanks for replies...
Another reason I'm thinking of taking the car back from MMC is to stop their unstopable spending frenzy and go for a bit blast before trying at another testing station.
Yes I have got the CAT fitted and MMC haven't told me it needs replaced (although that'll no doubt be the next thing after they replace the ECU!)

Thanks - do you know what the additive is called?

The ECU will NOT be causing this!!!! They obviously have no idea and are complete muppets.
Do not under any circumstances pay for a replacement ECU.

exhaust burst? Mine had a split and it was the cause of the high readings.

Thanks for advice folks - just heard back that the Lambda fitted yesterday was faulty and they've now fitted a new one and MOT passed.
Not looking forward to the bill now - I think it will be a trip to Jude next year....
Thanks Again...

Make sure they only charge you for a normal MOT + the lambda and not for the time they screwed around with a faulty sensor.
