Clicking Noise from passenger side...
Clicking Noise from passenger side...
I have an S1 elise and there is a clicking noise coming from the passenger side when driving at anything over 10mph. However when the brake is applied the noise disappears.
I think its a brake or suspension issue (still original set-up) but could really do without putting new suspension if possible! The cars a 2000 plate with 14k on the clock.
Anyone had this problem before?
Cheers.

doess it happen when hot & cold? IIRC the charcoal cannisted makes this kind of noise and will freak people out in winter time. However, it could be the handbrake cable, see if pulling that on gently makes the clicking stop. If it does, you need your cable re-adjusting

You also need to check the anti rattle springs are fitted the right way around - they should be shaped like a Y (i.e. the end with two tabs should be up, and the end with one tab should be down).Bert1 wrote:I have an S1 elise and there is a clicking noise coming from the passenger side when driving at anything over 10mph. SOunds like te carbon canister TBH. The canister (on mine atleast!) only clicks when warm and under power (As in not on the brakes...) Is it quiet to begin with then suddenly starts? Is it a regular click-click-click at about 2/sec? If so it's the carbon cannister. Otherwise keep looking (Or turn up the radio!)

i noticed this the other day on mine - i thought it was my *ahem* number plate which is currently residing in the pax footwell slapping against the footrest or the mp3 jack connector hitting against it. It might have also been the guage on the fire extinguisher.... feckin' rattling bath tubs!
Can you tell where the clicking noise is coming from Bert? Low level or high level.
IIRC the carbon canister is about shoulder height through the bulkhead(?)
I'm sure i'll be corrected about this one!
