... they still rattle like nothing on earth.

I stuck with Mintex 1144s and this time I fitted them properly, with the 'anti-rattle' pads and the anti-rattle plates were checked and doubled checked (last time I didn't bother with the pads).

Now the pads are more rattly than ever before.

Yes, the pads are in the right way. The pedal is as firm as its ever been.

Any clues as to how to shut them up? It was merely a nuisance before, but now it's a major irritation at speeds sub-30mph.

Are they a good fit in the calipers? If they aren't then pack them in with something like rubber similar to the buffers. Differend mfrs use slightly different backplates. Failing that bend the natirattle springs to give more pressure.

seem to be snug, I'll take a look tmrw. Failing that I'll bend the springs a bit and see how that goes. It should be getting a good rag tmrw morning so maybe that'll sort it out....

cheers

I've got some spare buffers if you want to double up.

Springs are the right way up (well, same way as they came off and also the same way as shown on Elise FAQ).

Ali, I've got the rattle pads from the old pads (unused) so I'll stick them in too.
