Early S1 cant rails

Post by campbell » Tue Jan 09, 2007 2:41 pm

Can these take new fittings at the trailing edge to match later S1 design? With appropriate updated fittings on the "B" pillar to match? Or do you need completely new rails? Wasn't there some kind of "modification" to enable early S1s to take a hardtop, maybe included this change?

The early ones seem quite fiddly and have also worked loose (on Ian's recent purchase) so the rails can rotate a bit which doesn't seem good. Also makes removing/fitting the roof more awkward than it should be.

Mine does that too. Interested as to how much all the bits cost though...

Wasn't me, Gareth...I've got the same problem that Campbell mentions with the cant rails turning. I just tighten them occasionally and forget about it - its a good excuse to take the roof off
