MOT due in a couple of weeks time so am about to put the cat back on. I didn't put the de-cat pipe on so am not sure which way round the cat goes.
It isn't clear from the parts manual
and not mentioned in the service manual. Does it fit a specific way, or does it not really matter?
Cheers

Hi Stewart, Don't worry it only fits one way.

Are you sure? Have just taken the de-cat pipe off (it was easy - thanks for using S/S bolts

). Haven't yet offered up the cat but it looks like it could go 180 degrees out. In other words the gas could be flowing through it in the wrong direction (if this matters).
I notice that one side has a heat sheild on it. Not sure whether to put this against the bulk head or against the exhaust.
Have also just noticed that the handbrake has too many clicks on it - I never use it, so am away to search the archives and service manual to see how that adjusts.
Cheers

Deffo only fits one way the flanges are asymmetrical
Good luck with the MOT!
Leave the handbrake as long as it works I can't see them worrying overly. The adjust is under the rear tray and is off to one side. The cable form the lever comes to a horseshoe compensator then this is hooked over another cable running between the calipers in a sort of inverted Y the adjust is on the LHS bracket before it reaches the caliper. Will make sense when you see it as long as I've remembered correctly!

Cheers Rich
I'll pop back out to the garage tomorrow and stick it back on. I'll probably just leave it on now, although probably only about a half hour job to swap.
That sounds familiar for the handbrake, I think I have seen that when I have had the undertray off in the past. I think I have about 6-7 clicks so they may not like that. It still works perfectly well though. Car is on ramps so could do it relatively easy although I will need to remove the undertray.
Thanks

Mine also has an arrow on showing the direction of flow.
